In hectic fever there is a big swing in the body temperature and the temperature rises with chill and rigor, then it
persists for few hours and suddenly falls with profuse sweating.
Common causes of hectic fever are :
1.Pent-up pus anywhere in the body- Lung
abscess
- Liver
abscess
- Empyema
thoracis
- Empyema
of gall bladder
- Subdiaphragmatic
abscess
2.Septicaemia or pyaemia.
