This is also a common complaint of patient, caused by the 

"5F" -Fat, flatus, fluid, faeces and fetus

Fat - Obesity

Flatus - Obstruction / ileus

Fluid - Ascites

Faeces - Constipation

Causes of abdominal distension 

Obesity - Fat deposition in intra-abdominal and abdominal wall.

Ascites 

• Peritoneal disease
• Portal HTN
• Hypoalbuminemia

Intestinal obstruction

• Gastric outlet
• Small intestinal
• Large intestinal

Marked organomegaly

• Massive hepatomegaly
• Massive splenomegaly
• Hydronephrosis

Mass lesions 

• Neuroblastoma
• Wilm's tumor
• Abdominal lymphadenopatfty - ТВ,
• Lymphoma
• Mesenteric cyst
• Ovarian tumors
• Uterus - in pregnancy

Feeling of fullness of abdomen without any of the above mentioned conditions is post- prandial fullness in dyspepsia, hepatobiliary disease etc.
