Unilateral causes of palpable kidney
- Dropped kidney (can be pushed to its normal position).
- Unilateral hydronephrosis or pyonephrosis.
- Wilms' tumour.
- Hypernephroma.
- Large cyst (solitary) in kidney.
- Compensatory hypertrophy (other kidney damaged).
- Polycystic kidney (irregular surface).
- Bilateral hydronephrosis.
- Bilateral dropped kidney.
- Diabetes mellitus.
- Amyloidosis.
- Scleroderma.
- Acromegaly.
