In aseptic fever the rise in body temperature is not due to infection.
Aseptic fever can occur secondary to the following causes
- Heat stroke.
- Lymphoma, leukaemias or disseminated malignancy
- Collagen vascular disease eg, SLE. .
- Pontine haemorrhage.
- Thyroid storm.
- Acute myocardial infarction
- Drug fever eg. rifampicin or sulphonamides.
- Gout
- Crush injury.
- Radiation sickness
- Over-atropinisation.
